I'm So Excited......

Yesterday was the start of several "working" days I have scheduled for myself. I'm so excited because I'm going to be off work for 5 days......that's 5 "consecutive" days. I know they are "work" days for me, but it's work I'VE been wanting to do. There is a difference!

I made a list and have been trying to be prepared so that I have the tools I need, etc. in order to get the job done. None of this, "we'll run to Lowe's to get it" at the time that I need to use it. That can waste an hour real easy!

Tonight I am going to purchase the paint to finish my foyer, and the paint for my kitchen......sage-like.....I think. That way I can get started first thing.

I have asked my husband to give me at least ONE day that he will finish the tasks I have for him. Some things he will have to do, like put up door trim, baseboard, install door knobs (well I can install them but these doors aren't even cut out for them yet).

I also am wanting to get all the trees weed-eated around. We have about 14 down the fairways, plus a few in the front yard. It has been raining most of the week, but it is suppose to clear off, so hopefully it will dry out.

We also have "equipment" parked in the back yard that I want moved and the weeds cut down where they were sitting.

Just some basic lawn cleaning, before winter.

Well I just have numerous things I want to accomplish over these next 5 days. Please pray that I will be a good steward of the time I have and productive in my labors.

Thursday Thirteen #6

Banner by The Pink Diary

Thirteen Things I Accomplished on Wednesday (my day off)

1. I painted one wall of my kitchen "Red Gumball". One, because I wasn't sure I would like it. I think I'm going to the Sage I was originally going to do. It really is a pretty shade of red, I'm just afraid it might be too much color for my kitchen. Ok, I may be just a little chicken to do something that bold!!

2. I painted the foyer outside of my office "Spiced Applesauce", the same as my office.

3. I did a load of laundry.

4. I vacumned and mopped the front foyer and kitchen.

5. I did some more straightening up in my office. I had changed desks and everything has been in a disarray.

6. I read a few blogs.

7. Cooked my husband the fried sweet potatoes he has been wanting.

8. Ironed some clothes.

9. Paid some bills.

10. Sent my grandchildren a Monk-e-mail

11. Called my cousin, Judy.

12. Sent a rescue (son #1) to my niece' to kill a spider she was petrified of.

13. Thanked the Lord for his many blessings.

APPETIZER: Approximately how many hours a week to you spend reading other blogs?

5-6 hours.

SOUP: Your community wants everybody to give one thing to put an item into a time capsule. What item would you choose to include?

I would put a photo of my youngest grandchild, which at this time would be Raylynne, and include information about her like her birthdate, full name, etc. and hope whoever opened the time capsule would research and locate her and see where she is in her life then.

SALAD: What is the most interesting tourist attraction you've ever visited?

Oh my.....the most interesting??......I don't know if I would consider it the most interesting, but I enjoyed MGM and Universal Studios and the area where you can walk through and the buildings, etc. are replicas of the same from different countries. So you feel like you are actually visiting that country.

I would give my husband, Jim an award and it would be titled "Most Patient Man".

DESSERT: What do you think your favorite color reveals about your personality?

Word Definition Meme

Barb was tagged for a word definition meme where she was given four words and had to write what comes to mind when she read those words. She has tagged anyone wanting to participate and the words she gave are

1. HAPPY

I immediately thought of laughter.

2. ANIMAL
Although I don't have any, my first thought was pets. Well actually Jim
and I brought a beautiful all white wild kitten (Scooter) back from Florida
about 5 years ago, only Lonny soon had him spoiled and is considered his
cat.
Kyle and his wife had gotten a kitten (Tigger) about 3-4 years ago and
shortly after moved back to Georgia. Lonny had spoiled him too and
therefore inherited another.

3. CEREMONY

I would have to say wedding.

4. ETERNAL

God, endless, forever

If you wish to participate in this meme, your four words are

Autumn
Enriching
Journey
Yellow

Please post a comment if you are going to participate so I can visit you.

Profile update

Today you may or may not notice that my profile had to be updated. Oh I'm still a wife, mother and grandmother. I continue daily to be more Christ-like and to walk in God's plan for my life. We haven't added any more grandchildren. HGTV (specifically House Hunters) is still my favorite network/show.

But today, October 2nd, I turned 52 years young. I'm like older than my parents were when I thought they were ancient.

I really don't mind being this age, if only my body would hold up to the activity I wish to accomplish.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! (that's what my 3-year-old grandson always sings - no matter whose birthday it is, he still says "happy birthday to me"!)

All In A Day's......

This afternoon Jim and I were going to do some yard work at our rental property just down the hill from where we live. It required some bushhogging (that's mowing with a certain kind of mower thing), some tree limb trimming and some road work with the box blade. (Have you noticed two of these tasks involved the John Deere tractor? That is not a toy but one of those manly tools very necessary to accomplish a job.) Then of course he had to use his chain saw. Also a necessary toy tool.

In order to get these jobs done we had to go purchase some diesel for the tractor. On the way back to the house there were these two cute squirrels in the road ahead and as I was approaching them it was like neither one could decide which direction to go and so I couldn't figure out which direction to go to avoid hitting them. And so I did......hit one. Oh, I felt so bad.

But Jim says "did you hit it for sure?" Looking in my side mirror, I said "Yes". He then asks me to turn around so he can go pick it up. Well I knew he didn't want me to do that so he could get it out of the road. No, he wanted it for supper!

So I cooked him squirrel and made gravy to go with it. Yes, my husband ate roadkill!! I'm sure any avid hunter would appreciate.

While he was thoroughly enjoying his supper, our drummer, Mark, who was fishing in our pond, called to let Jim know he had caught a pretty good size bass. As it turned out it was a 4 lb. bass.
Well you can't have a good fish story without pictures to confirm!

Bloggy Tour of Testimonies

Lauren over at Created For His Glory is hosting a Bloggy Tour of Testimonies today so go on over and read about how others have came to know the Lord or a testimony of their faith.

I had gone to church for periods of time during my childhood. I can remember a time or two when I was in the 1st grade that we went as a family. It may have only been on Easter and such, I can't actually remember. But during 2nd grade my parents divorced. My mom and I moved in with my grandma, and my dad and brother moved to California.

During grade school I would attend church when a friend invited me, or sometimes I walked to a nearby one on my own. And like a lot of kids I got baptized. I'm sure at that time I understand what it meant and my intentions were sincere. But I didn't necessarily carry that over into my adulthood.

Now it wasn't that my family didn't believe in God they just didn't attend church or necessarily live a "christian" life. Don't get me wrong they were really good people, and tried to do things right.

In 1974 my brother had gotten divorced and was headed down a path of drinking when a friend introduced him to the Lord and he turned his life around. On occasion he would invite my parents and I to attend church with him. But more importantly he wanted us to accept Christ.

I can remember when my first child was born, and knowing I should get them (I had a step-daughter too) into church, would visit one nearby. Because I didn't feel like I "fit in" I would soon quit going. It wasn't that people weren't nice, I guess it was more that I felt inadequate. That "I" needed to clean up my life before giving it to God. (We all know how well that works out).

Then at the beginning of 1991 I started to feel a void in my life. I had been in an on-again, off-again, relationship with a man for 10 years, but I had an emptiness inside which really had nothing to do with that relationship.

Soon I realized that it was a void that only God could fill.

During the month of June my dad had surgery, had complications, and was transferred to a major hospital in Springfield, IL to have additional surgery.

By July my brother had been diagnosed with lung cancer and was given 3 months to a year to live. My dad passed away July 8th. I can't begin to share with you all the wonderful things that God did during this time. And not only did I receive precious time with my family, I received a peace above all peace.

I had seen so many things transpire during those 7-1/2 months. From the way God worked in my dads life and was working in my mom and I, to the love and support that my brothers christian friends/family had shown not only to him and his family but to all those around. I knew that I wanted that in my life.

On August 9, 1991, in my brothers hospital room, my mom and I dedicated our lives to the Lord. I knew this road would be difficult at times but I also knew that I wanted to see my dad and brother again one day. I mean I wanted to see them sooooo bad that it was like I was guaranteeing my train ticket to their destination and nothing.....nothing, was going to get in the way of me seeing them again.

Now granted that may not have been the right reason to give my life to Him. God knew my heart though. And soon my love for Christ overshadowed my deep desire to see them again. And I strongly believe it was a good enough reason at the time and through that path it lead me to the real reason to seek Heaven and all its glory. I do want to see them again, but first I want to see Jesus.

Over the years when I have looked back I know that God carried me through. I'm certain many of us can relate to "Footprints in the Sand".

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?

”The Lord replied,“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,is when I carried you.”

Jesus, who died for my sins and all those who come unto Him. My life, and yours, will never be the same again.

**I pray that if you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior that you will ask Him into your life today. If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins, that you are willing to repent of your sins, ask forgiveness, and want to accept Christ wholeheartedly in your life, but you are unsure how to pray you may repeat this prayer.....

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.
