#18 WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOURSELF? The older I get the more I seem to complain (that is an age thing, right) and I don't really like to complain. And then there is always my weight.

#19 WHOM DO YOU MISS THE MOST? I really miss my mom, dad and brother, and I guess I miss them the most because I know I will never see them again here on this earth. My little portion of Tuscany

When was the last time you met someone and just found them sooooo interesting to talk to you could only hope you might see them again one day? Well for me, it was Thursday. A woman, Ellen, came into our office and in the course of doing our job we found out she was from Italy. Actually she was raised in this town, had lived in Boston for 19 years, and has lived in Italy for the past 11 years.

I've never had much desire to travel abroad, but if there is one place I would like to go to it would be Italy. My office is even decorated in the Tuscan style.

As it turned out, we talked for close to 2 hours, learning a little about the culture, her family, etc. She even mentioned that living in Italy was a lot like being in Arkansas because the people were so friendly. (Ok, your thinking how can you get by talking to someone for 2 hours when your suppose to be working. You have to understand that I work at a family-owned business, and the other woman working with me was one of the owners, and she looooooves to talk.)

As I said, Ellen, was so interesting, and funny. She was like all I could talk about to my husband that night. And even started Friday morning out talking about her. Knowing she was going to be returning Friday to take care of her business, I couldn't wait to talk to her again.

She arrived shortly after we opened, but said she couldn't stay long. Well as I mentioned my co-worked looooooves to talk too, so 2 hours later she was finally leaving.

Ellen may never know how much she brightened our lives those few hours we were with her, talking, laughing and even crying. I can only hope that we brightened hers as well. I believe, without a doubt, that God knew how much I needed this and in His glorious plan our paths were meant to cross. Could this be the beginning of a long friendship, I hope so. People are brought into our lives daily, some for only a moment, others for a lifetime.

I know she will be returning in a week or so to do some more business and I'm already looking forward to it. (Her husband will be with her then, and I already have a vision of what he will look like. BooMama we'll see if I'm accurate on this one).

Maybe you can take the time today to speak to a stranger, even if it's through a smile. It may be the brightness of their day. Or the start of a great friendship.

Life is made of ..........

Something to Ponder

I have a wonderful christian lady in Florida whom we met when we traveled and sang gospel music. And for several years now she has sent me her "Morning Thoughts" daily. Today I want to share it with you.

What a better place it would be if everyone prayed "Lord God, let me be of some use to some person today" and then did something for someone else.

Ecclesiastes 9:10
"Whatever your hand finds to do,
do it with all your might.'

There are many things our heart finds to do that will never get done; of course, we would like to do many things for God, but we must be content in doing only what is possible. We have only so much time on this earth.

One good deed is worth more than a thousand words, so let's not wait for large opportunities, rather let's do whatever can be done in one day, and do it day by day.

We have no other time; the past is gone, the future has not arrived (and may never arrive) only the present is ours.

Do not wait for some marvelous opportunity to do great things for God -- do whatever you can today -- to help somebody, to show them God's love.

If our first thought in the morning is what we can do for self today, we have a problem. Rather, let's keep this thought in our mind as we begin this day;

Lord God, let me be of some use to some person today.

And whatever you find to do, do it with all your heart and soul, as if for God; because, ultimately, it IS for Him!

Today's Scripture reading says do it with all your might, From where comes your might? Surely not from yourself -- it lies in the Lord God. Then let us seek His help; let us tackle this day with prayer and faith and when we have done what our "hand finds to do" we can pillow our head tonight, knowing we've done all we can do (for this one day). Tomorrow's not ours.

Something to ponder.

Whew!!!!

I am nerdier than 28% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

Although I never really considered myself nerdy, I have to admit I was relieved to find out I'm not. Does that mean I'm hip, even at 51, or wasn't smart enough?
Either way I can officially say "I am not a nerd".

Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against people who are nerdy.
I guess I always considered them just more no-nonsense type people.

BooBoo's

Yesterday my 15-month-old granddaughter had her first booboo that was serious enough to have to go to the emergency room. Her parents are always remarking about how she keeps climbing on stuff. (Her mother blames it on her dad because he was a climber.) It was inevitable she would fall one day. Well she was climbing around on one of her chairs, fell, and hit her head on the leg of another chair and cut her forehead. After her mama got her cleaned up she was afraid it might be deep enough to require stitches, so she took her to the ER. They ended up gluing it shut. Before they could leave the hospital she was up and at it again, laughing and carrying on.

Her dad, on the other hand, was out of town working and it was a difficult time for him. We've all been there.......you can't see the injury, but they tell you it is not bad, but you want to see it for yourself; you know everything will be ok by the time you could drive back home; and you couldn't get there fast enough anyway. I felt for him.

This is just one of the things "life is made of". Everyone survived, even Drwannie, who is 12 hours away. I thank the Lord that it wasn't serious.

What I Have Learned

What I have learned since starting blogger:

There are some amazing women in this world. Not only because they can juggle kids, husband, homeschooling, household duties, and all that life throws at them, they also love the Lord and aim to live according to His plan for their lives.
They enjoy and need to blogg daily.
They will jump in there to help a sister blogger by giving ideas, tips, etc. to whatever the need may be.
They are willing to share their most beautiful, memorable, or funny moment with whomever will listen. But they are just as willing to share the painful ones.

My life has been enriched my these woman and I have been reminded how glad I am to be a child of God, a woman, mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, co-worker, friend, etc. in this sometimes difficult but wonderous thing called life.

What I have not learned is:

"Html"
how to specifically search for other bloggers (such as my age group or how
will anyone else find me)
how to add neat things to my blogspot
and basically how to manuever in this blogging site.
I may know how to add a photo, but I haven't had the chance to try yet.

All in all I think I am going to enjoy this life of blogging.

I have learned more than this in my lifetime but that will make for more blogs later.

My First Nickname

Growing up I always wanted a nickname. I even tried making up a few myself. My friends never did catch on to it and soon I moved on, till the next time. I don't know what it was about nicknames that intrigued me so much. I guess it meant you had made such an impression on someone (a good one or otherwise) that it merited a title. Of course you had your typical ones.... Tiny always went to a large person, Lucky was tagged to those who were accident prone or who "if they didn't have bad luck they would have no luck at all" kind of people.
When I married my husband it seemed my father-in-law had a nickname for everybody, and I thought here is my chance. One day he will come up with a name for me. But then again what was wrong with just calling me by my name! After all that is why I was given one when I was born. But a few years went by and still I had no nickname.
Even my mother-in-law gave people nicknames. This wasn't necessarily a good thing in my book. Hers wasn't really nicknames, she intentionally would call you by someone else' name.
Then the day came. I was 49 years old and was going to be a grandma again after 10 years. Ok, I was going to be picking out my own nickname......again, but maybe this time it would stick. I didn't want to be the standard Meme, Nana, MawMaw, Memaw, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with those names, but the other grandma was going to be called Nana, and another was already MawMaw, and so on.
I began to do research for this momentous event in my life. I went to the internet, Google to be exact, and typed in "grandma names". I really liked the name Nonny but my oldest son' name is Lonny and I didn't want to take away from him when the child started to speak and it sounded like he/she was saying Lonny when in reality he/she was saying Nonny. So after great consideration I decided on "Gannie". I was so excited!
So for weeks, months and just a few years I have been referred to as Gannie. My grandson, E. is 3-1/2 years old now. But you know what......more and more he is calling me "Drwannie". That's right....Drwannie! (I don't know how he can roll that "r" and "w" together, but it's so cute.
Yes, E. gave me my first nickname all by hisself....and he isn't even old enough to write!! Why, I didn't need a mature adult to give me one, all I needed was a young, innocent child who loved me and who knew I loved him.Well ok, maybe he had trouble sometimes saying Gannie and it came out Drwannie, but to me it is a beautifull name and one I will cherish. Thanks E.
Drwannie loves you!
